ABOUT ABOUT

University High School’s Theatre Program presents John Patrick Shanley’s Welcome to the Moon and Other Plays performed on Saturday, September 13th at 7 pm and on Sunday, September 14th at 2pm in Stroud Auditorium. Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased online at Stroud.ticketleap.com or at the door one hour prior to the performance.

Returning from the Fringe, these six plays were performed at the world’s largest arts festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the U-High cast and crew are excited to bring their show and experiences back to their home stage after a successful run abroad. Following the performance, please join our students for a talkback and reception to discuss their travels and experiences performing for an international audience.

Synopsis: Marking the start of Shanley’s career, this show presents an imaginative and diverse collection of six short plays exploring the relationships and situations we find ourselves in. The collection includes plays that take place across America with a variety of relationships from the real to the surreal. How does it feel to hold back your true feelings for your sweetheart? What does the poet have left when he is without a pencil? Where does love overpower and overcome--in central park, out west, or among ghosts and monsters?
